“Spring adds new life and new beauty to all that is”

“The promise of spring’s arrival is enough to get anyone through

the bitter winter”

The Spring season comes between winter and summer. Its beginning marks the end of harsh winter and its end marks the beginning of summer. Though this season is short-lived, it is called the king of all seasons. Spring is the season of rebirth and rejuvenation of nature.

Spring is nearly upon us! Springtime is magical, dynamic, and even more beautiful than any other season time. As Mother Nature is moving from cold, dark winter towards spring, the pulse of life quickens, the earth warms, and blossoms unfurl, reaching for the sun. Nature makes it look smooth, but for us humans it’s not as easy to transition gracefully from one season to the next — especially from winter to spring. Though it’s a good time to change our habits and routines in accordance with this, more often we find ourselves feeling heavy and sluggish, like a cranky bear reluctantly coming out of hibernation. In Ayurveda, merging your personal routine with the cycles of nature is a simple tool to increase health and wellbeing — begin spring with a new lifestyle, diet, and Ayurvedic treatments to cleanse and renew your body.

Ayurveda, yoga’s sister science and the world’s oldest surviving system of healing, shows us that the key to feeling in step with the seasons is to harmonize with nature, to follow her lead, and dance to her rhythm. The rishis created rituals and festivals to honor each season and to remind us of our connection to the natural world. By weaving some simple Ayurvedic principles into your life, you can weather this seasonal transition smoothly and emerge feeling transformed and ready to get your springtime groove on.

In Ayurveda, Spring is governed by the Kapha dosha, which is one of three Ayurvedic Doshas and it has the qualities of being heavy, dense, wet, and cool. As these qualities are naturally increasing during this month in nature, they are also increasing in your mind and body. When Kapha is in balance it provides strength and stamina, immunity, peace, love, generosity, and a good memory; it lubricates the joints, as well as provides sufficient mucous to protect the mucous membranes of the sinuses, lungs, and stomach.

In order to boost our metabolism and lifestyle, some ayurvedic herbs can help us. Some notable herbs are –neem, Khedira,Daru Haridra, irimeda for oral care; Guduchi, amlaki, haritaki, vibhitaki Parpatak, Vijaysar, ashwagandha, bhringraj, neem, kiratikta, koshataki, shunthi, pippali, marich, lavanga Turmeric, manjishtha, patha, sariva, manjishtha, jeera, aragvadh and bilva for digestive system.

But it is very difficult to include all the herds in the diet. Moreover, it is hard to find all the herbs at the same time.
